Help!! I can’t trigger an event!!
This is the most common question I get once a new mod is stable. Rest assured, I thoroughly test all my mods and every event, most often the reason for an event not triggering is not meeting event conditions, it’s a festival day, or a conflict with another mod.
First off, I HIGHLY recommend installing the MH Event List mod. This mod helps track events, allows replaying ones you’ve seen, and shows all conditions, including time-gates (days to wait before the event will trigger). I will create a post for how to use this mod and the filters to best track my events and link it here.
In coming updates, I plan to remove the manual event conditions on my mods and only list the names and IDs by heart level. Mods like MH Event List will show the conditions so I don’t need to manually maintain this information.
Common event issues and solutions
Incompatible mods
Faster Events – a setting on Fast Animations mod. Do not speed up events, they will break. Not “might break”, they are guaranteed to break. I use a lot of advanced moves which require exact timing, speeding up events changes the timing, thus breaking the event. Characters will walk off screen, the event will hang, and you will have to skip to escape. All other settings on this mod are fine, I use it myself and love it dearly.
Event Limiter – this mod limits the number of events you see in a day, based on the time of day they are set to trigger. Since many of my events occur late in the day, this mod will push them to the next day, and so on. If you have a lot of mods that add events, Event Limiter might push out an event for weeks. This is not an incompatibility or a conflict, adjust your Event Limiter settings if needed.
Longer Days – This mod changes backend speed and keeps events from triggering, from the comments it appears to be broken. Use Time Speed or another newer mod.
Mods that add events are usually fine, I haven’t run into any specific issues with these other than story conflicts which are up to the player.
Event conditions
Do not depend on Event Lookup for tracking events. That mod is not up to date with current event conditions and shows errors for most of the events on my mods.
Thoroughly check the event conditions and make sure you meet them using MH Event List. The events are often spaced apart using conversation topics, and this mod will tell you the number of days remaining.
My mods include reverse confessions and proposals. If farmer confesses or proposes before these events, they will not play. Most pre-dating or pre-marriage events will not play after marriage since their conditions can no longer be met.
If it is a festival day, most events will not play until the next day. This prevents conflicts with locations being closed for festivals.
Some events are not available with specific mod configurations or if another mod is installed that is known to conflict, such as polyamory mods or Diverse Stardew Valley with certain configurations (Sam only). If an event is not available for every configuration, it is noted in the event list.
Note for polyamory players: If you are playing polyamory, some events in both the Immersive Sebastian and Immersive Sam mods require Sebastian or Sam to be present their rooms. If you are married to either of them, they cannot be in their rooms. For example, several Immersive Sam events take place in Sebastian’s room and require him to be there to trigger. If you’re married to Sebastian, these events will never trigger on their own. You will have to force-play these events to continue the story. Since I don’t mod for polyamory play, I won’t be customizing the conditions for these.
