Explanation of the config menu options available, options vary in the different mod versions.
Farmer magic path:
Choose to add magic elements to the story if your farmer trains with Magnus and magic is part of your gameplay. Choosing the Joja route will automatically disable magic, so your selection will be overridden.
This toggle changes a few events, but does not add magic to the general mod dialogue or storyline. Really, it just allows farmer to talk to junimos in one event, and tell Sebastian about magic in another.
Default: Farmer learns magic
Farmer dialogue tense:
First person gives a more immersive experience, pulling you into the story as the farmer. Second person is more objective and allows you to imagine your own scenarios.
Default: First person
Author’s Note
I plan to update this to Farmer’s Thoughts, Third-Person Narration, and Limited Narration in the next major update. I love storytelling, and adding farmer’s thoughts or narration allows me to really flesh out the events, but some players do not want that extra content. Choosing Limited Narration will remove any extra messages that are not direct dialogue, shortening events and showing less text on the screen.
If you’re like me and want to get everything you can out of the story like a visual novel, Farmer’s Thoughts includes the full story as originally written.
Farmer neutral pronouns:
Select ‘Yes’ to use gender neutral pronouns for farmer. This will change a few events and dialogue lines where other characters talk about farmer, switching the pronouns to they/their rather than based on the farmer’s gender chosen on the creation screen. This also shows a “neutral” version of some lines that have variants for male or female farmer.
Default: No
Sebastian spectrum
Sebastian’s vanilla character demonstrates hints of autism. Select ‘No’ to disable dialogue developing this character aspect at a high level. This toggle does change quite a few lines, but the difference is more in how Sebastian describes things or his impressions along with a few minor mannerisms like fidgeting, not adding strong behavioral variants.
Default: Yes
Seb’s name for farmer:
Select the pet name Sebastian should call you after dating from a fairly extensive list.
Default: Snugglebug
Author’s Note
This is another configuration I plan to update, in the future this will be a fillable text box so players can choose their own nickname rather than choosing from a generic list.
Smoking dialogue options:
‘Quit Smoking’ follows the standard storyline where Sebastian comments about quitting in several vanilla lines. Select Keep Smoking to remove ‘quitting smoking’ dialogue from this mod, any vanilla content not overwritten will remain. Select Non-smoking if you’re running Magg’s Non-Smoking Sebastian (or a similar mod) and you want no references to smoking at all.
Default: Quit smoking
Author’s Note
There are NO references to drug use in any of my mods, it’s not something I will ever promote. This mod is not compatible with mods that add a bong to Sebastian’s room or that add drug references. In fact, the “strange vase” that is part of SVE (carried over from the original room map) is removed and replaced by the radio from the current map by ConcernedApe, and the tile interaction text is updated to reflect that.
Disable child references:
Select ‘Yes’ to remove some minor dialogue and event references to future children. By “minor”, I mean exactly one line in one event, LOL!
Default: No
Author’s Note
This was a request from the very first version of Immersive Sebastian, and has been carried along to the current one.
EVENT OPTIONS
Morning Greeting:
Choose whether Sebastian chats with farmer in the mornings after dating (Spicy Expansion only) and marriage, enables a mini event conversation in the morning with randomized dialogue. This event is disabled for poly saves, it causes event conflicts in the farmhouse with other events in the same time slot which breaks the repeating code. Who has time to talk to one person every day when you have a house full of spouses like Pokemon anyway?
Default: Daily
Sleepover/Pillowtalk:
This is on the Spicy Expansion only. Choose whether Sebastian chats with farmer in the evenings after dating and marriage, enables a mini event conversation with randomized dialogue. This event is disabled for poly saves, it causes event conflicts in the farmhouse with other events in the same time slot which breaks the repeating code. Umm… Pillowtalk with one guy when you have an entire bed full of them waiting? Awkward!!
Default: Daily
Morning chat background:
If you want a background other than the farmhouse kitchen or are using a custom farmhouse mod that changes the kitchen map location, choose a background for the Good Morning and Sleepover morning events.
Default: Standard farmhouse kitchen
Author’s Note
The kitchen alternate maps will be updated in the next major update to one similar to Sam’s mod.
Wedding Replay:
Allows the wedding to be replayed by entering debug ebi MaggSebastianWedding in the SMAPI console. This requires you to enter the information manually since the event is not standard and must be hidden so it can’t play by random chance.
Default: Yes
Marriage dates repeat:
Select how often marriage dates reset, the dates can be randomly repeated every month, once per year, or once with no repeats. Monthly includes 4 dates per month, with one unique date per month. All dates have at least two choices that change the dialogue or ending.
Default: Monthly
Author’s Note
My favorite date is the Frog Island date, it’s so fun and was ridiculous to code! Both options have equally good endings.
Farmer’s birthday month:
Select the season for your farmer’s birthday, this is used for custom events. Avoid festival days, and if you are using the Happy Birthday mod, select the same day.
Farmer’s birthday date:
Select the day for your farmer’s birthday, this is used for custom events. Avoid festival days, and if you are using the Happy Birthday mod, select the same day.
Adoption events:
Select ‘Yes’ to enable adoption events. This selection also allows compatibility with mods that give adoption options to hetero couples.
Default: No
Author’s Note
This will be updated to an automatic trigger in the future to remove this config option since it’s really no longer needed.
Splash Art:
Enables custom splash art in a few events. Sebastian’s appearance is similar to vanilla.
Default: Yes
Author’s Note
The splash art was… one of my worst ideas. Not that I dislike it, but that it caused all kinds of fallout and I ended up having to add this toggle to disable it and re-code several events. Lessons were learned. Never again.
CUSTOM SPRITES
Custom event sprites:
Enables custom Sebastian sprites for certain events. Selecting ‘No’ removes custom sprites in some events and disables non-essential events that require custom sprites. See Nexus mod description for details. If you are using Seasonal Outfits or Nyapu mods, download the compatible patch mod. No changes are needed for Maggs Emo Sebastian sprites mod.
Default: Yes
Author’s Note
Do I love making sprites? Yes. Do I wish I had stuck with the extremely limited vanilla poses? Sometimes.
Going forward, I’ll be using temporary actors for a lot of custom sprites to avoid all the headaches of sprite mod compatibility.
Note that this is only overworld sprites, portraits are not affected at all. I do have custom expressions in the Emo Sebastian Sprites mod that add a lot to the dialogue, but if you don’t want this mod, you can use any portrait mod and it will not change your experience.
Flower Dance sprites:
Replaces the Flower Dance men’s suits for a specific story arc. Only works on vanilla or non-seasonal sprite mods. Select ‘No’ if you have a different sprite mod installed. You will see the dialogue but the sprites will not change.
Default: Yes
Seb’s wedding sprite:
Select ‘Yes’ to enable Sebastian’s wedding suit sprite. Also allows Seb to wear his wedding suit for the day. Only works on vanilla or non-seasonal sprite mods. Select ‘No’ if you have a different sprite mod installed.
Default: Yes
CUSTOM DECOR
Seb’s bedroom decor:
Select ‘No’ to remove the decor edits from Sebastian’s bedroom. Automatically disabled if you have a bong mod installed, no frog slippers for you! Note this does NOT remove the bedroom expansion, that additional map is needed for events and honestly does not hurt anything. Don’t want to give Seb more space? Well… he declined your offer.
Default: Yes
Outside event decor:
Select ‘No’ to remove outside decor related to events. This includes some planter boxes and a couple minor other items, nothing major as of this version.
Default: Yes
Lake Frog Statue:
Select No to remove the frog statue on the lake island, it will block the late game shortcut.
Default: Yes
Author’s Note
Someday I might move the frog statue, but right now I don’t wanna.
Custom wedding decor:
Select ‘Yes’ to enable Magg’s custom wedding decor, the decorations stay up for a couple of days after the wedding. Select ‘No’ if you have an alternate decor mod installed.
Default: Yes
Keep wedding decor active:
Select ‘Yes’ to keep the wedding decorations up after the wedding. You can disable or re-enable them at any time.
Default: No
Author’s Note
This was another ask from the early days, much of the wedding decor is also available for purchase from the Traveling Cart.
Baby sprite edit:
Enables a minor edit to the baby sprite, recoloring the blanket to a mint green and making the infant slightly smaller. Select ‘No’ if you have a baby sprite mod installed.
Default: Yes
Keep Seb’s aquarium:
Select ‘Yes’ to keep the frog aquarium in Seb’s room after the relevant event (this is not the same aquarium as his 14 heart event). Who doesn’t like blue frogs?
Default: Yes
Custom spouse room:
Makes edits to Seb’s spouse room, such as adding the frogs and slippers. Set to ‘no’ if you’re using a different spouse room mod and the edits conflict.
Default: Yes
Author’s Note
At some point I will fully update Sebastian’s spouse room, but until then, a few edits are made. I attempted to have him work at his computer during his normal routine, but it requires some additional coding I need to investigate.
